The study found that people with Type 2 diabetes who took cinnamon supplements had lower fasting glucose levels compared to those who didn’t have the cinnamon. The compound in cinnamon thought to be responsible for these effects is cinnamaldehyde. More research is being conducted to track exactly how the substance works, but what researchers do suspect is that it stimulates the release and effect of insulin in the body.
Don’t throw out your diabetes medication just yet, but consider a sprinkle of cinnamon in your daily routine!
